Wow, wow,wow!!

What can i say? Ask and its given! I was only saying to myself the other day how good it would be to find a book on a "fictional" basis that would give me same teachings on the Law of attraction as do the all the other books on the market. i walked into our local department store and there it was, "Sara Book 2" staring at me.I felt compelled to buy it even though i don't like reading a book if i havn't read the first to the sequel.It took me one day to read it and i was so grateful to the universe and E & J Hicks and Abraham for bringing me the book i asked for. Even though i have read so many books and watched so many dvds on the subject, this book was the most profound because its so real and obvious when you read it in a real life context. Everyone can relate to it and no matter what age you are. i've just ordered 3 copies of "sara book 1' as i'm certain it will be just as brilliant,inspiring, and wonderful as "sara book 2".Do yourself a favour and read it and give it your children. If i had a book like this to read when i was growing up, my life would have been SO different. Thank you

I love the way Esther and Larry Hicks clearly explain how to create good feelings and hold onto them. By using a series of events they describe good and bad events with ways a. Conscious focus on what is wanted and the good can impact lives for the better. I liked these books better than the adult ones!

I have read all three of the Sara Books, they are amazing...and really fun to read. I can't tell you how disappointed I was to finish the third one--because so far, there is no fourth one! (But, I am certain that the Law of Attraction is taking care of that! ha-ha!) If you have children, these are incredible books for them to read, but to the adults--you will feel like a kid again when you read them yourself! Highly recommend these! I'd give the series more than 5 stars if it was possible to do it!

About the Author
Josef Muller-Brockmann (1914-96) was a leading authority on graphic design and a master poster designer. His work is characterized by minimalist clarity and intense composition. Based in Zurich, he lectured extensively and was the author of many books, among them the hugely influential Grid Systems in Graphic Design (1989). Shizuko Muller-Brockmann (b.1934) worked with her husband on a number of projects and was lecturer in Visual Design at Kyoto Kyoiku University. She also worked as a freelance graphic designer throughout her career.

This book is mainly a pictorial of 291 poster designs from the very late 1800's up until the late 1960's. There are many great and important examples found in this book, both well and lesser known posters are showcased. Some parts of this book could described as egotistical going into the 50's and 60's as there are many Müller-Brockmann works shown; however, I found this to be quite relevant with Swiss design of that time being so revolutionary. Then again I am a great admirer of his work. Additionally, the writings throughout the book are quite enlightening and are not too heavy to read. The printing quality is great, examples are large, shown in full colour and printed on very nice stock. The creator's name, size, year, type of reproduction, and descriptions of the purpose are included for each poster. One of the pro's to this book was the inclusion of these very brief descriptions. A very good piece of information to include in a design collective as it is essential in order to judge whether or not a piece of design is effective; something a few overrated books on identity could use (e.g. Los Logos).

About the Author
Benjamin Hoff is a writer, photographer, musician and composer and a specialist in Japanese fine-pruning, with a degree in Ancient Art. A. A. Milne's creation, Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends from the Hundred Acre Wood, was based on the real nursery toys owned by his son, Christopher Robin. He produced a book of children's poetry, When We Were Very Young, in 1924, and in 1926, the seminal Winnie-the-Pooh. More poems followed in Now We Are Six (1927) and Pooh returned in The House at Pooh Corner (1928). Through his writings for Punch magazine, A. A. Milne met E. H. Shepard. Shepard went on to draw the original illustrations to accompany Milne's classics, earning him the name 'the man who drew Pooh'.

Have had the book set for about a month.What a clever way to present the wisdom of Taoist principles which I've been interested in learning.
Pooh and Piglet in their respective books talk to and ask questions of the author who gradually leads them to understanding. Because Pooh and Piglet are involved, one might think these are children's books. They are not.
These are also not books to sit down and read in one sitting. They are books to read, put down and 'think on' about before moving on to the next chapter

Simple, just like Pooh Bear

Bought this for a gift for a friend. He loved it! It comes in a great package to fit both the tao and the te. I haven't read the Te of Piglet, but I thoroughly enjoyed the Tao of Pooh. The ideas of Taoism are explained in a fittingly simple manner through our beloved Pooh Bear and the adventures he goes on. A really great gift or just a boxset for your own enjoyment. I would highly recommend reading these books.

Great Box Set!

I bought this as a gift for a family member and he LOVED it! These books have deep meaning spelled out in simple terms. They're a definite must read since we all could use some good advice from the world's favorite bear and his friends and it's written in a way that makes you smile yet gives you a different, more simplistic outlook on life. Sometimes we make things so difficult for ourselves and Pooh and Piglet have a way of helping us to see, in only a way these story book characters could, that life doesn't have to be this way. In fact it can be quite the opposite if we just embrace the simplicity they talk about.
I would definitely buy this again and this time get one for myself and another for a gift since my original Tao of Pooh is now making it's rounds I probably won't see it again for awhile!

Great for a budding anime artist

I bought this book for my teenage daughter, who has become obsessed with drawing manga. It was worth every penny! By demonstrating the particular stylistic quirks of Japanese animation (anime) and graphic novels (manga), it has helped her drawings gain the expressiveness she desires. After just one week of studying the examples, she improved dramatically.
This book does not have extensive text and thus is perfect for middle school children and older to learn by copying the examples. Unlike some of the volumes in this series, the pictures are not risque.
I recommend this book for anyone who has mastered the basics of anime style and is looking for ways to improve facial expressions.

So close to being the perfect resource for facial expressions...

I took a chance on this book because its title, "Expressing Emotions", promised to reveal the content I've been seeking for so long: a book that shows how to create facial expressions for a range of emotions. And this book really does that, and does it well.

Another book by the same artist, Tadashi Ozawa, offered a similar promise, but failed to deliver. Let's Draw Manga: Bodies And Emotions doesn't focus on faces at all; it focuses only on expressing emotion by posing the body in certain ways. Indeed, half the drawings don't have faces at all. Another book, Manga Moods, shows a huge range of emotions, but with only a single picture for each emotion and no advice on drawing.

Half this book is dedicated to facial expressions, and the other half gives corresponding full-body versions of some of these expressions. Everything is very well-annotated, with a number of notes on each drawing explaining exactly what was done to achieve the emotive effect. The drawings are clean and well-done, and the text is very clear.

But what could be a strength for this book turns out to be a weakness as well. Fourteen characters are used, a broad range of male and female characters typical of various styles of anime and games. Each character is shown with 14 facial expressions, then later with eight full-body poses. But pretty much the same 14 expressions are used for all the characters, and it just doesn't feel like it's enough to express the full range of emotions. Consider that Manga Moods has 40 expressions, and very few of them are redundant.

It's a nice touch to see the differences between how the emotion of anger is expressed by the young male detective and by the catgirl, or how smugness is expressed by the schoolgirl and the male giant-robot pilot. But I really rather would have seen more emotions reflected in this book, even at the expense of showing fewer characters.

This is still the best book I've found for learning how to draw emotions, and I'm sure I'll use it for reference quite often. I only wish there was more focus on a wider range of emotions -- how to differentiate between gloom and discomfort rather than just "unease", or defiance and confidence rather than just "smugness", for example.

Another top title from Ozawa

For anyone interested in drawing characters (not just Manga style), the Tadashi Ozawa books are a real find. Volume one of the Anime and Game Characters (Basics for Beginners and Beyond) series was an amazingly useful book on drawing the human figure in many styles. Now he follows it up with Expressing Emotions.
As with the first book, he walks you through the techniques he's featuring for a range of different character types, from the very simple to the very realistic. He also includes extensive annotations with most of the drawings explaining why things work and pointing out the small but important details he's used. He focusses both on facial expressions and using the whole body to effectively convey feeling.
And again, he's included a section of drawings that don't quite work, with full annotations alongside revised drawings that fix the problems. While not as extensive as in volume one, it's still a great resource for the learning illustrator. Once you study these "before and afters", you wonder why more books on drawing don't use this technique. It allows you to spot your own flaws more easily, while encouraging you by showing you how to repair the problems through practice.
This book is definitely a 5 star read if you already have Volume 1 of this series (currently a bit hard to get, but keep checking for the reprint that's scheduled for release sometime). If you're already quite competent at drawing figures, this book will be of great use. If not, you'll still find it useful, but it doesn't cover how to draw figures, only how to give them more life and emotion.
If you're interested in drawing, especially Anime and Manga, grab this book while you can. And watch for the release of volume 3 (Bringing Daily Actions to Life), tentatively scheduled for this Summer 2001.

Great (small) coffee table book for your fashion lover!

My wife has an affinity for fashion books, and wanted to begin growing her collection. This is the first book I purchased to get her collection started. She loves the book, and has added it to our coffee table.

The hardcover book has a bit of texture to the cover, and is printed on very nice paper.

As the title states, this is a great little book to get for your loved one as a "just because" gift. It's priced great, and with Prime you can't beat the free shipping!

Amazon also has special boxes that they use for their books, so you're not getting some huge box just for a book. Good job Amazon!

The useful dictionary

This book is suitable for me because i'm learning in fashion. The words in book is simple, easy to understand its meanings. Furthermore, I can learn the special words in fashion only. So I think it's useful. The fact that I bought one more book: Bazzar Fashion- your guide to personal style on your website before. And I like it, too. I can improve, enrich my style. Thanks to this book, I can know well my body propotion. By the way, please introduce me some good books in fashion in order to apply for my daily style effectively. Thanks a lot.

About the Author

Peter G. Northouse, PhD, is Professor Emeritus of Communication in the School of Communication at Western Michigan University. In addition to publications in professional journals, he is the author of Leadership: Theory and Practice (now in its seventh edition) and Introduction to Leadership: Concepts and Practice (now in its third edition) and coauthor of Health Communication: Strategies for Health Professionals (now in its third edition). His scholarly and curricular interests include models of leadership, leadership assessment, ethical leadership, and leadership and group dynamics. For more than 30 years, he has taught courses in leadership, interpersonal communication, and organizational communication to both undergraduate and graduate students. Currently, he is a consultant and lecturer on trends in leadership research, leadership development, and leadership education. He holds a doctorate in speech communication from the University of Denver, and master’s and bachelor’s degrees in communication education from Michigan State University.

From Employee to Management: Leadership Emerging From Within

Growing up in a family business gave me the opportunity to learn how to lead via trial and error. However, practice without theory will only get you so far in the business world. Echoing the words of my college mentors and teachers, I decided to return to Santa Barbara City College and complete an Associate Degree in Business Administration with an Emphasis in Management. When the Professor assigned us the book, Leadership: Theory & Practice, I was skeptical when it arrived. It was a thin book and from my good ole' college days (about 10 years ago) a serious textbook was at least 2 inches thick and weight at least 5 to 7lbs. But the ole' saying goes, "Times They Are A-Changing" and so are the academic textbooks. Although the book was thin and light (thank God) it was filled with dense content, real-life examples, current theories and trends and the online access that accompanied the textbook was superb. Each chapter was filled with relevant insights and progressed via a logical timeline explaining the evolution of Leadership and Management. If you feel that you've reached your glass ceiling within your industry and job, this book is for you! You don't need to go back to school, but if can commit to a chapter a week you'll be empowered with the knowledge you need to remain ahead of your industry and be an example to your co-workers and peers. The online quizzes will give you the "buzz" words you need to communicate within all levels of managment, from the bottom up or the top down. Either way, you'll have the skills, knowledge and vocabulary to identify each unique situation and respond accordingly to benefit you and your business environment. Great reading...Easy to follow. The only downside to the book was that the book did not stay together. Once I reached the middle of the book, it split and I was always worried I was going to lose pages. Luckily it was a rental and I got to return it.
